Who’s this Chap?

Growing up I was taught that there’s two things that change you in life. The people you meet and the books you read. With that in mind I’d like to stress that the TFA isn’t about me, it’s about the influences on me and therefore everyone and anyone who might find themselves in a similar spot. I genuinely hope that, though it’s based on my failings, it’s a tool for anyone to dip into at any time and find a little help, advice or some good vibes. Then in turn I’d hope they pass that out into the wider world. Sorry if that sounds a little culty but the reason I’m telling you this is that I am what the advice, help and good vibes I’ve received made me. I can’t solve your problems, you can.

I will help you

I’m a voracious reader,

When it comes to books I’m a voracious reader, I try to mimic Bill Gates 50 a year which, if I’m honest, only really became possible when I discovered the joy of audible listening at double speed on 8 hour drives to far off holiday destinations. Whether its fiction, non fiction, business or biography there’s something to learn in every page so if you want to know who I am have a look at the books I recommend.

The people I met is a different story because the ones who truly changed me are no less than everywhere. From the big ones like my parents who taught me the value of being a good person in life to my brothers who taught me the importance of having a good time during it. I’ve learnt small thing like the patience my son, Harry, is teaching me daily to the big things like my high school teacher, Miss Olds teaching me that no one’s going to hate me for trying my best. I’ve learnt what I loved to do with my time from people like my high school Rugby Coach Sharpy who told me “I’d be better if I cared less”, my college lecturer Robin who taught me the joy of creativity, my business partner Jamie who taught me the joy of bullshitting about business and more recently this fishing guide called Jeff who taught me how fun it is to sit on a river an do sweet fuck all.

Need help?

I’ve learn’t the real Irish exit from a cab driver in Brooklyn, how not to put up a fence from a schizophrenic in Canada named Tom, what not to do in a club in Thailand with my buddy Rob and how long to ride a bull for from my buddy Paul in New Orleans. I learnt about the importance of community from Pete, the value of family that aren’t family from the Bubs and the importance of laughing your ass off at least once a day from my wonderful wife Tone.
